Drove an 84 Escort wagon 600 miles from Sacramento to Lake Havasu. This was what every uphill was like. Also, A/C on made my Dakota 0.25 seconds slower in the 1/4, I believe I calculated it at 15HP lost.

I had to explain to a coworker that the button activates the A/C compressor, it doesn’t help the air get any warmer faster. At best it may help on mpg, at most it’ll help extend the life of the compressor.

LOL love it.
Although I gotta admit, I’ve never experienced this myself. Guess it’s more noticeable on smaller engines, isn’t it? I’ve never had anything smaller than a V6...

So true, at least in the Cruiser. Doesn’t seem to matter in the GX

While I notice it i n everything, it is most noticable in naturally-aspira ted 4s.
The more torque a car has, especially with a strong low- and mid-range punch, the less obvious it is.

I learnt to drive in a 80's Suzuki hatchback with 50bhp. You certainly feel it in that!

My 1985 4.2 6-cyl Jag is like that, probably because the motor is detuned for emissions as typical of the time and also the AC compressor was an ancient thing most GM cars from the 70s had.
